LBI Jerusalem would like to congratulate Prof. Galili Shahar on his appointment as chairman of the Institute. Shahar is a professor of comparative literature at Tel Aviv University. His research and teaching interests are German, Jewish, and Hebrew literature in the modern era. Last year, he published a book, The Stone and the Word, on the poetry of Paul Celan. Another work, the German-language Jüdische Tradition und Deutsche Moderne, is due out in the months ahead.
